Hold fasts are traditional forms of clamps, which consists of a long shaft that is hammered into a deep hole at a slight angle, using friction to hold the item. It is then remove by a tap of the side - very simple, and works very well. I use them to hold my printing press down - just two of them - and it holds it tight.
