DVD:'Modern British Wood Engraving DVD' from The Society of Wood Engravers
Subtitle: 'A new look at a traditional meduim'
145 mins running time
This Edition Published By:Tin Films / The Society of Wood Engravers 2013

This DVD comprises two sections - a 45 minute film introducing Wood Engraving by talking to collectors and engravers, then follows 10min conversations with ten featured artists - Neil Bousfield; Simon Brett RE; Harry Brockway ARE; Chris Daunt; Anne Desmet RA, RE; Edwina Ellis RE; John Lawrence RE; Peter Lawrenece RE; Miriam Macgregor ARE; Hilary Paynter RE.

The greatest value of this DVD comes from listening to, and watching the Wood Engravers at work - the books we have are great, but hearing and seeing people really do the work is so refreshing. As is hearing the many uses that wood engraving has today - exhibitions, book illustrations, fine art press and advertising, as the back of the DVD states.

If you are at all interested in Wood Engraving, whether it be collecting or the act of wood engraving itself, this DVD is well worth adding to your collection - and when I bought it at the annual exhibition at the Bankside Gallery, it didn't cost me too much either.
