No one really wants to spend their 7th birthday without friends and family, but that is what our 7 year old daughter has had to do today - and the party had to be cancelled.
The reason is that we are self isolating at home during the pandemic for the duration, and even without the government's regulations, we aren't going out, meeting people, because of the pandemic.
This could be a big disappointment for her, but we have tried to make the best of it and make it into something that is enjoyable by doing what we could do.
This is part of our story, what we did during this time.
Having had many digestive issues over many years, people sometimes ask me 'but what can you eat' and my answer is that I look at what I can do, not what I can't. And that applies here too.
There may be a lot of things we can't do right now - and I really mean a lot - but there are still a lot of things we can do.
We couldn't have the pizza making party we booked, but we could make pizza's at home (our bread machine makes pizza dough so that was an extra help).
We couldn't meet any of our family or friends, but we talked to them over WhatsApp video and Florence could show them her presents on screen. And she is good at it, it worked.
We couldn't make a cake (Tesco 80 item limit means there aren't enough items in the basket for cake ingredients), but we could buy a cake.
We couldn't invite others around, but we had each other.
