Woodblock & Wood Engraved Print Maker - based in Chesham, Buckinghamshire, UK & married with 2 junior aged children, and Chairman of the Amersham Art Group, and have a rare immunological condition.
Do part time childcare for our children and other part time work too. Previously worked in business & Tenor/Soprano Sax player. Listener of Radio 3, interest in Choral works (inc. early) and Jazz.
I was born in 1973 in Leicestershire (UK), and went to Loughborough Grammar School, then off to University of Hertfordshire, with a year working for Oxford Instruments, based in Oxford, working on their particle accelerators.
I spent a some years working in business, but the immunological condition that I have had for most of my life meant a break and working more with wood.
I have over 10 years experience in working with wood, using just hand tools, creating accurate and well made items. This is something that I enjoy very much - and hand tools only - i.e. no machines is important to me. I am more in tune with the materials, and can produce just as accurate work as I have considerable experience in working efficiently with just hand tools. It also means little noise, dust or other things that could annoy me or the neighbours!
In the little free time we have, aside of art, I enjoy music very much – mainly classical and jazz. Having been a chorister in my youth in a local church that also was involved in various cathedral services, I have a particular interest in choral works, in particular early choral music.
I read a lot too – biographies (I’m interested in what makes up other people), art & art history, transport (various), and have an interest in Antarctic exploration of the early 20th Century – Scott, Shackleton etc.
